How to Advertise

To have your advertisment posted on the Herp Trader:

1) Read through the instructions below.
2) Carefully fill out the information in the fields at the bottom of this page.
3) Click the submit button at the bottom of the page.

Very important - When making cash direct deposits and / or electronic transfer, please inform us by using the "Payment Notification" button to the above left. We cannot give credit for deposits we cannot identify.

Please note that the Herp Shop and Herp Trader are separate businesses. Emails and other inquiries directed to the Herp Shop about the Herp Trader may go unanswered.

Terms and Conditions

In most cases listing fees will need to be paid before the add will be placed. (Advertisers with a good Herp Trader credit rating will have their adds placed promptly on the assumption that the fee will be paid within one week. * Free listings are processed at a lesser priority depending upon the work load associated with paid ads.
* Free listings will be removed after 5 inquiries have been passed on or at the end of one month, which ever occurs first..
* Only 2 free ads per advertiser per year will be allowed after that they must be paid for.
* We reserve the right to reject ads if we feel that advertiser is trying to manipulate the system to avoid listing fees.

Ads will be posted for 1 month unless sold prior.

Animals must be currently available, not anticipated to be available at some future date.

This service is restricted to trade of animals within Australia.

Animals are assumed captive bred, if they are not this must be explicitly stated in the description.

The cost of permits, shipping etc. is to be worked out between the buyer and seller.

The Herp Trader™ reserves the right to reject or edit advertisements at its discretion without correspondence.

The Herp Trader™ reserves the right to change the format or the rules governing this page at its discretion.

Ads must be for a single species or product

Ads must be 60 words or less

Advertisements will be displayed on the site for up to 1 month.

"Wanted ads" are accepted but certain terms and conditions apply:

  • In addition to normal inquiries being passed on, emails will be sent to you when ads that match your wanted description are posted.
  • A maximum of 10 notification emails will be sent

Ads from commercial wildlife license holders are accepted but certain terms and conditions apply:

  • The ad will clearly state that the seller holds a commercial license

Name Posting for a friend is OK, please ensure their details are correct. 

Not all of our advertisers have access to the net. A contact number is essential even if you do not wish it to be disclosed directly to inquirers. A valid email address or phone number must be able to be disclosed or your advertisement will be rejected. Unless you have a very good reason not to do so we recommend that you allow all your details to be disclosed to inquirers.

Send Confirmation Email Check this box and you will be emailed a copy of your advertisement details when you click the submit button below. This is a good way to confirm that your email address has been correctly entered.
Wanted Ad Special conditions apply for wanted ads. Please be familiar with the "Terms and Conditions" above before you proceed.

Description

Starting with the species name, describe what you are offering, . Provide sufficient detail to allow site visitors to make an informed choice as to which advertisements they follow up on. Please remember to include basic information such as sex, size, age and what they are feeding on. The qualitity of the description determines the number of inquiries you will receive.
If you have additional comments/questions, not to be included with the ad description please include them at the end of the description but clearly state that they are not to be included in the ad.
Picture or link
If you have a picture of the animal or item for sale please email it or a link to it to herptrader@herptrader.com.au and it will be included with your advertisement. Note that sending photo(s) to accompany your ad affirms that you own the copywrite for the images or have obtained permission to use them from the copyright owner. We reserve the right to modify images and add copyright information as appropriate. Any photographs supplied will be assumed to be of the actual animals/items for sale and if this is not the case this must be specifically stated in the wording of the add.
